Describe your sound in 3 words
Bad Bitch Shit
Tell us a few things about your new song titled Crazy. What is the main idea behind it?
I was pushed past my limit. There was a person that had been harassing me for years, and when I tried telling people about it no one believed me. After years I found the courage to stand up for myself. At the end of the day the truth came out, and this song was a way to celebrate.
Artists and people that have influenced you?
Hayley Williams, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish
I grew up listening to Paramore. I found them on my “Sims 2” PS2 game. I was hooked. Her vocals are so powerful, and she has immense control. In my younger years I used to copy Hayley’s tone and accent. I used to watch the “Still Into You” studio video ALL THE TIME.
Miley Cyrus is making the rounds with her album “Plastic Hearts.” When that album came out I was OBSESSED. I annoyed everyone around me because when they came into my car it was ONLY Miley. She lost everything and had permanent damage to her voice, but she showed me you can overcome anything. I lost everything around the same time too. I felt like my life at that time was trial by fire, and I am thankful I had Miley and that Album to help me through those darkest times.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST BILLIE EILISH. I actually have a tick disorder just like Billie Eilish. I used to have this weird belief that I couldn’t be a musician because I have my tick disorder. People always made fun of my ticks and I thought it somehow hindered my ability to be an artist. I thought people wouldn’t like me or my music because I am not “normal.” I saw an interview where Billie had talked about her ticks and I was amazed because I realized how flawed my views of myself were. I actually gave up on music a long time ago and my ticks were one of my reasons. Honestly, that interview is a big reason why I am here now. I’m so thankful for her.
You began writing songs at a very early age. How have your sound developed over the years?
Honestly. I used to write songs to impress girls. I was this awkward kid with poofy long hair, and I was like I have my secret weapon……. MY SONGS BABY. It didn’t actually work though. Ok maybe a couple times, but it didn’t ever get past my awkwardness. As I’ve gotten older I have gained a lot of confidence in myself. My music has started turning into this new being. I like to mix up A LOT of sounds. Crazy is probably my most rock dominated song, but I now create what I think sounds good instead of what everyone else wants. Some may not like it, but I do and that’s all that matters.
Tell us a guitar riff you wish you had composed yourself?
THE HALO 3 ELECTRIC GUITAR THEME. NOTHING COOLER THAN BEATING HALO 3 ON LEGENDARY WITH YOUR BUDS AND THIS COMES PLAYING.
What is the story behind your name?
My middle name is Catherina. When I first started recording my music I went by Cvtherinv. People didn’t know the a’s were v’s. Everyone had a hard time pronouncing it. I played a show and someone said “Let’s give a hand to Christina V.” I was like “yeaaaaa I gotta change my name.” My bestie/producer Layne Robertson wanted to cheer me up one day. He took me to a cool park to “shoot a music video” but it was actually a bro trip. On the ride back home I was telling him I don’t want anything else. I just want my music. This time I wanted it to be something bigger than me. I want it to empower others. I’ve always loved the folklore around Lilith. I think one of the baddest b’s of all time is Lilith. So I came up with Lilli as a symbol of who I wish to become, and cat as the acceptance of who I was before. BOOM Lillicat.
So, what makes you really crazy?
They’s and the gays because they keep stealing my heart. Also people that chew their food loudly.
What’s next for you?
I’m putting out a BUNCH of music, and I want to TOUR EVERYWHERE WITH MY BAND. Currently my van is broken with a BIG bill. I gotta figure the second part out, but I am going to go as hard as I can.
Thank you!
