‘Disco-ish electronika always moves my feet’ | Interview with Ichisan.

Igor Skafar aka Ichisan certainly needs no introductions. We, on the other hand, needed to hear his views on a thing or two after listening to his 2020 EP ‘Baba Mustafa’. Read our discussion with the Slovenian artist below!

Describe your sound in three words!

Space Disco Electronika

You have managed to maintain a consistent sound throughout these years. How easy was it to stick to a coherent idea and not be carried away though?

Very easy. I have been driven by disco funk formula for many years. Even before I started making music…

Is “Nu-disco” in your opinion “Disco” produced with newer technology? Or is it something more?

Speaking of my approach – it is a combination of both. Computer and vintage, analog synths and drum machines. As well as other instruments, for example guitar and bass… If you are asking me about the difference between nu-disco and classic 70s disco: The nu-disco of course moved forward with help of new technology and it is also influenced by other, newer electronic genres…

If you had to choose one Synthesizer (analog or digital) which one would it be?

ARP 2600

When it comes to live perfomance, is realistically Electronika a genre that can be performed live?

For sure. Without any doubts. Especially nowadays… There are too many fantastic live acts out there. Kink is one of them…

You make danceable music but we are wondering what kind of music do you like to dance to?

Disco-ish electronika always moves my feet. Something that is spiced up with funk. It can be techno or house.  If it is funky then you’ve got my attention…

Apart from being a musician, you are also a photographer. Pick your favourite song (of your own making) and visualise it for us, please.

It is not my favourite song though… 🙂

What is one thing in life that you still have on your ‘To – Do’ list?

There are too many. As soon as I am done with everything, I am ready to leave the planet.

Thank you Ichisan!
