M A N E – Portals (Iteration #2) [Review]

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, M A N E are back with their new single “Portals (Iteration #2)”, an art pop gem to round out the summer. It combines a blend of organic and retro synth instruments that create a very rich and warm soundscape. The vocals, distant but at the same time constantly on focus, are a great example of multiple effects usage that results in an amazingly lush and full of emotion sounding. It’s production is also a marvel but the icing on the cake is the fact that the song balances between two completely different sections that come one after the other so naturally that makes you ignore their totally contrasting rhythm patterns and tempos. Imagine Honne mixed Tom Misch in a track produced by Nick Hakim. Ear candy!
