‘Wealth’ is an exciting debut album where songwriting quality meets polished production. Tobias Koett has already set the expectations for the upcoming album “Good Vids, Vile Times” really high.

- Please introduce yourself
I’m Tobias Koett an Austrian producer & songwriter in my mid 20ies currently based in Berlin. With Ant Antic I try to create a reduced & uncompromising sound somewhere between pop and club, putting essential elements and ideas into focus. By wrapping a melancholy mood in urgent songs full of hope I try to find the perfect balance between ambient, electronic and contemporary R&B sounds.
- Describe your sound in 3 words
Uncompromising, Moody, Lässig
- Are u still based in Berlin? Which city do you think is the world capital of music?
I have lived in Berlin for about 4 years now. I think every city you live in leaves an imprint in your music. I grew up in the countryside of Austria where I had the space and time, due to the little amount of distraction, to learn and experiment with sound not caring about what is “hip” or cool.
Living in Vienna gave me the opportunity of being part in a small but really good music scene. Swimming in that small but very talented Viennese music pond definitely pushed me becoming a better producer & songwriter as wells as let me learn some dos & don’ts of the music business.
Living now in a creatively blooming city like Berlin gives me the opportunity to put all these experiences to good use in the best possible way.
So in my opinion there is no such thing as a capital of music. Every place spawns a musical reflection of its surrounding. Additionally, with the the possibilities of the internet the next big thing can come even from the most unexpected places. And that’s definitely a good thing!
- You have a new album coming out in September. Tell us a few things about your creative process.
The album “Good Vids, Vile Times” is coming out on 25th September on my own label “Whoop”.
It explores the emotional power of information and media in general.
The never ending flood of information its impact on us as individuals is one of the central. Musically I tried to record & work less polished leaving the noise of the room & the analogue instruments in the recording We’re in a time where there are literally no technical boundaries left in terms of making music, leading to a lot of sterile sounding records (which can sound amazing as well).
- What is your favorite album of the past year?
Hmm. Might be Little Sims – Grey Area. Dig that a lot & stood the test time. Or at least the test of about one year. Haha.
- You have already been featured in Spotify editorial playlists. Is Spotify the music industry’s new Gatekeepers?
Got featured in several indie’ish playlists. It’s basically the same as with radio airplay. Both can help a great deal & also let you fall through the grid depending on what style of music you make. It also gave Majors new power over the industry which can’t be healthy in the long run.
- If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Maybe make it more about the music? I’ve seen too many uninspired songs backed up with a shit load of money just to get it stuffed into our ears. The good thing is with the internet there are more and more active listeners, actively looking for music to listen to.
- What would be your dream performance venue?
Don’t think I have that. Always work towards the next possible step & then look further. I’m definitely looking forward having a proper European + GB tour! Maybe the music brings me over-seas or to Asia. That’s the cool thing about being a musician. You never know what could happen next.
- One last thing we should know about you?
I know it’s a dull answer but I would really appreciate everyone checking out my music! It’s a rough year for the creative scene (and generally for everyone) & it would mean the world to me, if someone finds joy in my releases. Lately I’ve been also more active on Instagram & always happy about every DM & follow.
