‘Fun fun fun’ | Interview with J’cuuzi

Mean music for nice people. J’cuuzi is back, showcasing “asslesschaps.biz”, the first single from their upcoming EP, Recession Indicator. It’s a track that constantly reinvents itself, packing astonishing variety, warmly saturated sounds, and great doses of pure energy. Oh yeay, it is also fun fun fun indeed. Read our discussion below!

Describe your sound in 3 words

Fun fun fun

Tell us a few things about asslesschaps.biz. What is the main idea in it?

The central theme of asslesschaps.biz is the concept of screen addiction. The song is designed to emulate a particularly ad-riddled session of inescapable doomscrolling.

If calling J’cuuzi a “band” is incorrect and you could invent a new classification for this project, what would it be?

A gaggle; by some as a “cr*me family”

Your performances are described as “borderline acrobatic,” involving stacking and hoisting. How does being physically entangled with each other change the way you play and experience the music?

The music too big (and large) to be delivered by any singular person; therefore it must be occasionally performed by some combination of members, a sort of “Voltron-esque” situation.

Your music is nicely chaotic indeed. If ‘overstimulation’ is the result, is that because the audience is trying to make sense of a performance that by design refuses to be categorized?

Yes 🙂

If the music of J’cuuzi was a film, which film would that be?

How The Grinch Stole Christmas, directed by Ron Howard

In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?

While making scary faces at yourself in the mirror after waking up, preferably with an espresso/joint combo in your system.

What is the story behind your name?

It’s a family name. We assume. Not any of our families, though.

What should we expect from your upcoming ldn gig at the Shacklewell Arms basement on July 14?

The aforementioned acrobatics, light bending, bubble blowing, sound splicing, trash fashion, capitalist pastiche, time-space modulation, gender confusion. Etcetera.

Thank you!
