Describe your sound in 3 words

Passionate, Energetic, Sincere

Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind your debut single, “Sick & Tired,” and how it reflects your musical style as a solo artist?

“Sick & Tired” was written about being at the tail-end of a relationship and feeling ready to give up on it. It fits in with the musical theme of my upcoming album, “Love Is Drugs + Love Is War”, which follows the ups and downs of a relationship as two individuals try to make something work that isn’t meant to be.

As a solo artist after 20 years of making music with various bands, how does the creative process differ for you, and what advantages or challenges do you face in this solo venture?

The biggest challenge is being the main decision maker around my music – it feels a little strange at times after being involved with so many collaborative projects over my lifetime. That being said, I have a huge network of talented friends and artists that I can run my music by to receive feedback and foster ideas. Music is such a collaborative process that it only feels natural to loop others in for their input. The biggest disadvantage is when writer’s block hits, it is 100% up to me to get myself out of it. The main advantage is that I get to move really quickly!

Artists and people that have influenced you?

Some of my biggest artistic influences at the moment are Tame Impala, The Strokes, Velvet Underground, Subway Rat and Harry Styles. Biggest human influences are leaders in mindfulness, like Rick Rubin and Tara Brach.

A song you would pay to hear for the first time again?

“Schmaltz Herring” by Shpongle

You’ve hinted at more music in the coming weeks and an album by the end of 2023. Can you give us a sneak peek into what themes or sounds we can expect from the upcoming album?

The album is called “Love Is Drugs + Love Is War”, so you can expect both ends of that spectrum and everything in between! It traces the passion and the pain associated with love won and love lost – I think it’s deeply personal, sincere and honest.

What do you love/hate about NYC?

Love the food, the nightlife, the people, the energy and the excitement of the city! You can fall in love one night and be at rock bottom the next day – it’s such an interesting place in that regard. The thing I hate about NYC? THERE’S NO PARKING!

Tell us something you are really sick and tired of in the current climate

I’m really sick and tired of the world being so loveless. It’s deeply disturbing and saddening to see what is going on at the moment and my heart breaks and goes out to all the children who are suffering due to the decisions of adults fighting. I hope the world can find hope, peace and optimism and get to a more loving, empathetic state.

Thank you!
