Describe your sound in 3 words

Entrancing, Rhythmic, Bass-heavy

Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind your new single “FEVER DREAM” and how it relates to depersonalisation/derealization?

FEVER DREAM’s production was inspired by D’Angelo’s track “Really Love“ from his album “Black Messiah”. It has a magnificent string intro & Spanish spoken word that stuck in my head. I built FD’s instrumental around those strings but ultimately removed them to avoid having to clear the sample. I’m glad I did because I love the composition I ended up writing!

When it came down to writing the lyrics, I decided to pull from what had been troubling me at the time – I had experienced a depersonalisation/derealisation episode shortly before & having lost my “grip” on reality had completely terrified me. I found prettier words to imply it through the “rabbit hole” metaphor but I think I expressed myself more through the strings themselves then my words.

How do you balance your desire to experiment with different sounds and styles while also staying true to your personal brand and musical identity?

I think it balances out naturally as my musical identity reflects the multitude of genres & styles I adore, and that inevitably comes with experimenting with those different sounds!

How important is it for you to receive support from radio stations and editorial playlists, and how does it impact your career and visibility as an artist? For which moment in your career are you most proud of?

Being in the early stages of my career, I think radio plays and editorial playlists play a key role in putting me on people’s radar, I am very grateful for the exposure & opportunities that I gained through those placements/plays.

I’m most proud of taking the leap this year to release independently!

Favourite album of the past decade?

Childish Gambino – ‘Awaken My Love!’

If FEVER DREAM was a film, which film would that be?

‘Romeo + Juliet’ directed by Baz Luhrmann.

Parisian-born, London-based. What do you love/hate in each city?

Paris
⁃ Love the architecture, my family & friends, being able to walk the city easily, getting some good galettes, Salsa dancing on the banks of the Seine in the summer
⁃ Hate the undertone of judgement/closed mindset from some if you don’t act and/or look the “norm”

London
⁃ Love how easy it is to meet & connect with new people, the banter, vintage shops, always having a motive & the unmatched UK sound
⁃ Hate how the winters here are bone-chilling cold & TFL charging my card obscenes amount of money

What would you be doing if you weren’t a musician?

Designing a fashion collection or directing a film – two paths I will explore regardless!

Thank you!
