Do you remember Aziza Mustafa Zadeh’s Dance of fire, the seminal album with super-star backup musicians, back in 1995? This is the exact feeling you get listening to Shanu’s What’s Going On. The song contains vivid traditional elements, which are present by the very first seconds of the song. Its breathtaking piano centric sound is blended with skilful scat singing and it is wrapped in a mighty, funky groove. A piece of work that proves that there are no borders in music.
