Yakul – April [Review]

April is a brand new release from the Brighton based four-piece Yakul. The track is in practise a medley as two different ideas have been arranged into one continuous work. The first part is a mid tempo, chill and groovy r&b tune with distinct jazzy chord progression and clean acoustic sound, with some added warmth that comes from a synth pad layer. The second part invites you to dance with a fiery, latin american infused, fast groove, in which more saturated sounds meet multiple improvised parts. Lyrically, April touches on the feeling of unease and the intense emotions that go with every new relationship. An exciting debut single. The band’s UK tour starts 15th November. Grab a ticket while you can!
