DROTT – The Marauders [Review]

DROTT is a newly established group. So ambitious as to give their name to a whole genre. A genre that brings together elements of metal, Jazz and classical music to a harmonious mix. Do they have a reason to be that ambitious and confident? We’d say YES!

Following their self-titled EP, DROTT are not releasing a full LP comprising of 10 songs, part of which is, The Marauders.

The single definitely gives out heavy, dark vibes. It starts with a long organic buildup but it is when the full arangement kicks in that it floods you with some saturated sweetness. It’s a calm -in the sense that it’s doesn’t create any agony- but very effective chord progression, with deep sounds which remains purely atmospheric and with a cyborg cinema touch.

DROTT is comprised of Arve Isdal (Enslaved), Ivar Thormodsæter (Ulver) and Matias Monsen and hails from Bergen, Norway.
