Kemet is such a quality song. Its focus on the detail, the atmosphere and the enthusiasm that slips through the notes, make MckNasty’s new work, a wonderful listen.
Read our interview with the English musician below.
Describe your sound in three words please!
My music is Vibrant, Cinematic and inspirational
What made you pursue music?
Falling in love with the Drum kit made me pursue music as a career path.
Kemet is a small taste from your album As Things Grow. Tell us a few things about this work.
Kemet is a cinematic piece played by a 24 piece string orchestra I wanted to have a song on the album that expressed intricate chord structures, different time signatures and highs and low of tension and release.
What is your favourite place to be in London on a Friday night?
Troy Bar Jazz Night
Who/what has been your biggest inspiration and challenge through the years?
My wife and kids.
You have participated in a talent show. Many people argue that talent shows can be exploitative with less focus on actual talent. What are your thoughts?
Whatever you decide to do, you should always look for the benefits, dose this bring some kind of longevity to you and your project does this extend my platform does this opportunity bring the funds Britain’s got Talent brought me a lot of exposure my motive was not about wining it was the exposure to a new audience that otherwise would not have known about me…
What do you enjoy most? Writing music or performing your music live?
Live has always been a big thing for me because it allows the listener to experience the music/writing. In the past I’ve been able to bring the experience through other peoples music which has been amazing so now that I get to write the music and performing it’s become a double whammy.
If you could wake up and have a new skill, what would that be?
To be able to fly a plane would be an amazing skill.
One last thing we should know about you?
I love to love, I love to give and I love who I am.
