Describe your sound in three words please!
Inspirational, Empowering, Enjoyable
In the second part of ‘All Day’ there are some crazy boomy 808s. Who
produced the beat? How many beats do you listen to before you end up using one? Tell us a few things about your creative process.
It was actually a type beat I came across while just free styling to beats on Youtube, It was produced by Awndrei who can be found on beatstars.com I initially wasn’t going to utilize it because I had forgot what the beat was called when trying to search it again on youtube.
But by faith I was able to find it again. I usually listen a few times before deciding whether I’m going to create to a certain beat. Sometimes I connect instantly as the song starts haha that’s the best feeling. Sometimes looking past and challenging yourself to grab what you really can’t see is needed while creating. I always do my best to challenge myself while crafting my music.
What moment in your career are you most proud of?
Hmmm That’s a great question! One for sure was my first performance ever at a high school basketball game. I was so young and had never done anything like it. I just went out there and rocked out as if I had been doing it for years. But I owe some credit to seeing my pops perform as a rapper and other artist I would watch in videos on TV.
In all Honesty I am just Thankful for the fact that I was able to grow with my music career and evolve as a person and with those who have been around me from the start of my career.
To be able to meet various influential people who had such a impact on the culture of hip hop. There’s a long list of names but they all shared their own unique energy and gems and I’m forever grateful for that.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Stay consistent and do well in your academics in school! Have fun but don’t loose focus. Stay dedicated and it all will play itself out.
Do you think there is a true underground hip hop sound today?
Of course there always has! It is evolving because that’s just the nature of how anything works when you’re constantly striving to push something forward. You just have to know where to look.
You have an active presence in the film/tv show industry. What are your next plans in this area?
Well I am currently working as an actor on a TV show called “The Line-Up”. Excited about the process of taking on some roles in independent projects and keeping myself busy in this realm of work.
Although Covid has presented a challenge it won’t stop my mission to facilitate my own production company and work as a producer in the film industry.
What was the best film you have watched during the quarantine?
