HILOTRONS’ recent work is titled “Lonely Cinema (Omission of Sin),” and I must say, it left quite an impression. The track lasts an impressive 19 minutes, evoking a sense of psychedelia that can be felt from thousands of miles away. The rhythm section, at times lively at other times hypnotic, provides a solid foundation while the synth elements, with their brilliantly analog sound, add a layer of warmth. The keys and guitars engage in a highly creative interplay while the vocals, raw and emotive, contribute to the overall cinematic atmosphere. The song has a couple of tense moments, creating a sense of anticipation, however, it balances itself with more chill moments, allowing the listener to catch their breath.
In most cases, music accompanies a film. In this case we feel like we need a film to accompany the music. A European film noir please.
Choosing a favourite part of the song is no easy task, but if I had to select one, the mysterious, lofi finale with the detuned synth brass carries a unique and liberating quality.
We highly recommend purchasing the track on Bandcamp. It’s worth far more than its suggested price. If you’re interested, you can read our discussion with HILOTRONS in this link, which provides further insight into the band’s inspiration and process.
