Describe your sound in 3 words
Instrumental beat music with a pinch of jazz enthusiasm
Tell us a few things about L’arlecchino and your upcoming album Music for Harlequins. What is the story behind it?
This album is almost an accident. I found myself listening back to my favorite metal albums and music I used to listen to as a teenager. But I was more focused on the “romantic” side of it and was fascinated of its links to medieval music. At the same time I was buying a 12 string guitar and just had quite fun with it and wrote a lot of melodies. One thing led to another and I started having a sound for the album.
The track has a lovely, engaging folkloric line. Tell us a few things about your creative process.
At the beginning I am always alone and recording all instruments by myself. Just to get an idea where I want to go with a song. But to make it special and exciting, for me, I always love to collaborate with other musicians and artist who know their craft. So on this song Simon Popp (Fazer) is playing the drums and Conni Trieder is playing Flute.
For your upcoming album you mention that you found yourself listening back to the music you listened to throughout your youth. What are your main influences?
I know this reference might be a bit over used but the most important album to me is “…and justice for all” by Metallica. I actually took a lot inspiration from it for this album.
Adding to our previous question, why does it seem that the average listener basically only listens to music released when they were teenagers?
I don’t understand that question.
If the music of Gianni Brezzo was a film, which film would that be?
first iron man movie
What isn’t a crime but should be?
Vegan mayonnaise 🙂
What future holds for you?
I hope I get to play a lot more this year because now I have an amazing band.
Thank you!
