‘Intimate, harmonious, powerful’ | Interview with Roni Bar Hadas

It is time to trust yourself? Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Roni Bar Hadas is showcasing Red Lines, a beautifully honest production with intriguing songwriting and dreamy vibes. Read our discussion with the talented artist below!

Describe your sound in 3 words

Intimate, harmonious, powerful.

Tell us a few things about Red Lines. What is the story behind it?

The theme of the song ‘Red Lines’ was inspired by my personal struggles with finding balance in my relationships, between loving endlessly and not losing myself. I was feeling like I was making too many compromises and I didn’t want to lose my freedom. This song is a reflection of that feeling and the process of finding my own voice and staying true to myself.
For this particular release, I was inspired by a diverse range of music like Soul, Pop, and R&B. I wanted to challenge myself to compose in a style that I hadn’t before.

Which is the first warning sign that you’re losing yourself in a relationship?

I guess it’s a gut feeling. Usually, when I feel disconnected from my freedom or have difficulty being compassionate towards myself and others, I know I’d better stop the race and take the time to breathe, look deeper into my soul and hone my intentions.

How does your upcoming album differ from your debut album Calm the Beast?

While writing the materials for my second album, I tried to explore new creative directions and I opened up to new genres like Soul, Pop, and R&B. I feel like this album is more hopeful than ‘Calm the Beast’ which I wrote about sad feelings I was dealing with most of the time while growing up. I wrote the second album from a more liberated state of mind.

Tell us a ballad you wish you had composed yourself.

“Love” (Is Real) by John Lennon

What is the first album you remember hearing as a child?

I mostly listened to Israeli music as a child, I’m not sure it was the first album I listened to, but I remember listening to Yoni Bloch’s 3rd album. He has been one of my favorite artists since I was a child. Today I play bass and sing in his band which is kind of a dream come true for me.

If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?

I wish independent artists could have the same power as labels.

What is your new year’s resolution?

My new year’s resolution is to increase the love in my heart, for myself and all living beings.

Thank you!
