Describe your sound in 3 words

gritty, confident, honest

Tell us a few things about your new EP. What is the main idea behind it?

This EP encapsulates an unbridled force of energy that started to foster inside me in 2020 during the surge of the pandemic. It marks a time in my creative output where I couldn’t unleash this energy in a physical space with an audience & so came about these lively songs that each have their own story. The first 2 singles BADBOI (made with Pat Lok) and FOLLY OF THE BEAST are bold club tracks that were made to ignite a surge of energy in the listener. New track “VINEGAR “HILL was written to empower myself to speak up & make my presence known, as it’s through my music where I feel like I can wear this mask of confidence. I think it’s the most aggressive & experimental of the 3 tracks & the title of it is from the name of a nearby neighborhood here in Brooklyn that I often walk through & listen to music.
The 2 remixes are by artists I admire & I am also currently collaborating with – Chambray & Taut. I plan to move onto another club EP after this one, this release has stoked the fire in me..

Your sound has a minimal touch. Do you feel that music is a form of art in which you can achieve better results through simplification?

Definitely..simplicity always hits harder – there’s such power in clarity & concise ideas. This goes for communication in general.

What made you gravitate towards electronika?

I’ve always been a fan of dance music from an early age, one of the first artists I got into was The Chemical Brothers. The drums/grooves/rhythms especially. I remember loving how it made me feel – like I wanted to move my body and I found it so exciting (and still do!)

Which is your favourite acid line you wish you had composed yourself?

Easy – the Tb303 acid baseline in “Try Again” by Aaliyah!! That’s probably the only track I like acid lines in…that and “overpowered” by Roisin Murphy.

Can you share something funny that happened during one of your gigs? And what would be your dream performance venue?

My dream venue is Red Rocks and I actually had the chance to play a show there recently supporting Zeds Dead!! Absolute career highlight. There’s a story with that gig too – a mini hurricane swept through just as I started my set and I had to hold down the tarpaulin to protect my gear from the rain spraying in…it was soooo wild!! Will not forget the chaos of that gig.

There are a couple of movies trying to capture the atmosphere of a rave, does any of them do justice?

One that comes to mind is the German crime/thriller 2015 film “Victoria” by Sebastian Schipper. It’s a cool movie, all shot in one take in Berlin.

Thank you!
