st.James – Aquarius [Review]

Usually when you hear a song for the very first time it sparks a reaction that stays with you. For this one, this is not the case. On a first level, st.James’ latest work titled Aquarius has a vivid commercial sensibility combining pop conventions with electro sounds. Listening closer though the listener will appreciate the well crafted synth patterns upon the lovely beat that feels that it came from a lost Magnetic Man tape. Beauty is sometimes hidden in details. Driven by the refreshingly vocal delivery, the pleasingly detuned synths, the unconventional key lines [which add a spark to the minimal chord progression] and the lush, deep pads complete the puzzle resulting in a radio friendly tune that actually challenges the listener!
