Sabres by Sandia contains a truly creative and in some moments unpredictable mixture of different genres, instruments and music cultures. Read our discussion with the band below!
Describe your sound in 3 words
Journey, Soulful, Fusion
In your music you fuse numerous music genres maestoso. Tell us a few things about your creative process.
The music consists of several genres. The composition starts with an inspiration that turns into a musical idea. Then there is a stage of searching and investigating the idea in order to extend it to a whole composition. After the composition is ready, we are playing it together and checking different ideas for the arrangement. There is also a shaping process that continues over time, we try various directions until the arrangement feels complete and mature.
Your latest work, Sabres, is actually released as a live session. What do you enjoy most? Writing music or performing your music live?
Both. They complete each other. Another connection between them happens through improvisation during the live performances which is “writing” and “composition” in real time.
Artists and people that have influenced you?
Avishai Cohen, Tigran Hamasyan. They are a great influence on us in aspects of composition, performance, sound, attitude and more.
If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
Less need of marketing.
If the music of Sandia was a film, which film would that be?
An adventure film
Future plans?
