‘Feelings, feelings and feelings..’ | Interview with ViVii

Say the things you wanna say, then wrap your arms around me..
Is being alone a comfort?  ViVii’s new single Wrap Your Arms touches on loving to be alone but also hating it. With passionate vocal deliveries that complement each other and a simple arrangement with organic instrumentation, enriched with some delicate synths, it sounds smooth and melancholic. Describe your sound in 3 words

Feelings, feelings and feelings..

Tell us a few things about your new song Wrap Your Arms. What is the story behind it?

Due to the whole pandemic situation we weren’t able to meet up and work together as much as we usually do. So Much of the time we just sent ideas back and forth.
One night Anders sent us this beautiful instrumental track that we all loved, couldn’t quite get it out of our heads..
Couple of weeks later we wrote and recorded the song.
It’s about that thin line between love and hate..

Being alone is a comfort but eventually, you get lonely. The song reflects this love-hate relationship. In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to this song?

a dreamers state of mind would fit perfectly.

Your music has a retro vibe. Is retro music a new trend, or has music always taken as a pattern what came before?

We all grew up listening to vinyl records at home, and we love the “mid” sound of it.
Guess that we are drawn to the warmth of it all.
I think that you can hear the echo of the past in all types of genres of music that is written and produced.

You have some upcoming live dates. Could you share these with us?

We are playing a show on the 7th of April in Berlin at prachtwerk.
Then we will go back to Sweden and play some shows and
Then we will be back in Germany for a tour with shout out louds in June starting with Hamburg the 19th of June. Check out our ig or website for more details:)
That’s going to be so much fun!

Can you share something funny that happened during one of your gigs? And what would be your dream performance venue?

We played a show were only 15 people showed up once, but it turn out to be the most special and weird shows we’ve ever done.
The power went out twice and we ended up playing our songs with an acoustic guitar lighter were lit, it was memorable and fun.

Favorite album of the past year?

Don’t know about Caroline and Anders but the album that has been spinning for the most part this past year is the George Harrison album “all things must pass” our son Is obsessed with him at the moment.
And I love it.

Which book should we read while listening to your music?

Maybe “The year of magical thinking” by joan didion
