This is not just a rebound. ‘The Million’ is instant ultimate, love at first sight. Charming, emotional and catchy, made to convince even the pop music purists.
Describe your sound in three words please!
Doing our best
Why ‘The Million’?
We’ve been asking ourselves the same question
In Rebound is the first time you experiment with electronic instruments. Tell us a few things about your creative process.
I’d say most of our songs start on synths now. We gravitate towards the Juno or a Prophet and spend some time finding interesting chords. Everything else we do seems to change every time though. We try to approach every song we make in a different way.
You have known each other since you were teenagers, when some of you had different music tastes, as you have said. Do you still have such creative differences and how do you navigate them in order to move forward, if so?
Although we grew up on very different genres our tastes definitely intersect. It’s not hard for us to find a common ground when composing together. We inevitably have creative differences but we find our varying backgrounds also help us bring something unique to our songs.
If you could open a show for someone, who would this artist be?
We would LOVE to play with one of our favourite UK bands, ‘Easy Life’. Their sound is so laid back and they all seem hilarious – would be a dream tour for us.
What is your favourite album of the past year?
‘Painted’ – Lucky Daye, Jay’s all-time favourite.
What is the biggest challenge(s) you have faced as new artists?
It’s probably building the team around us. Finding people that understand what you’re trying to achieve is so important and finding the right people for that is hard. I feel like we really lucked out with our team.
What are your plans for the near future?
We’re dropping our new EP in a few months and hopefully if all restrictions stay as is we can get back to playing live music for as many people as we can!
