In “Gethsemani,” which inspired by a weekend retreat at the oldest Catholic monastery in the US, Eve Maret uses in a very creative way a synth arpeggio that shifts between sixteenths and triplets to lead the way. Backed by a lush, heavily compressed and really heavy on reverb trip-hop infused beat and organic keys, Maret takes a bold producer’s risk by maintaining a single chord throughout the entire piece, yet she successfully sustains the listener’s attention from start to finish without losing its pull.
