In T-07 EXPRESS, Kazyade blends everything from experimental electronica to alternative hip hop, breakbeat rhythms and even moody trip-hop atmospheres. One of these albums that makes it difficult to file under a specific genre. And this always a good thing!

Tell us a few things about T-07 EXPRESS. What is the main idea in it?
The project explores a young man’s attempt at emancipation at the heart of a broken world. We move alongside him through his shifting thoughts, his anxieties, and his longing for freedom. The train becomes a symbol of constant motion time slips by, and events remain difficult to control.
Your most honest and personal lyric from the album?
The text of Ville fantôme is, to me, one of the most personal in the project. It explores a sense of guilt in the face of an inability to act. This guilt is an ego-centered perception, and the narrator feels ashamed of it.
How did you two meet and start making music?
We met around the age of 14 or 15 in a contemporary music group. We first became friends, then music gradually took on a central role in our relationship. The formation of the band came naturally.
Artists and people that have influenced you?
We draw strong inspiration from trip-hop (Massive Attack, Air, Lamb…), as well as from progressive rock, which has led us toward longer, more evolving compositions (Pink Floyd, Radiohead, King Crimson…).
As for the lyrics and vocal approach: Alain Bashung, MC Solaar, Yamê, Thom Yorke…
If the music of Kazyade was a film, which film would that be?
Gerry by Gus Van Sant (for its long wandering through the emptiness of the desert)
Can you share each other’s funny habits?
Tom spent entire days grinding on Shapez.
What is the story behind your name?
We were looking for a name, starting from something ancient. When we came across a list of fallen angels from the Bible, we stopped on the fifth name: Kasyade. A fallen angel turned demon who teaches forbidden knowledge to humans. We liked it. That’s how it became Kazyade.
Thank you!
