Wheeler Newman- I Hit My Limit [Review]

I Hit My Limit, a collaboration between Florida-based musician Wheeler Newman, Paul Mauceri and Shaun Combs, is a testament of wordless storytelling, a track which proves that a musical arrangement done right can say so much stuff without a single lyric. It feels like the climactic final scene of your favorite film unfolding on the big screen. The foundation is set by a rarely smooth groove where a sweet bassline blends with the simple yet effective acoustic beat. Over this warm, steady rhythm, the electric guitar delivers an absolute melancholic vibe, capturing perfectly the atmosphere. The addition of a trumpet introduces a cosmopolitan element, while the jazzy chords help to create that strong sense of melancholia. A hidden gem.
