Describe your sound in 3 words

Deep neon grooves

Your music incorporates organic instruments alongside electronic elements. Does Anubis begin with the piano chord progression or the electronic beat? How did the track take shape?

It weirdly started with watching a skate video. We liked the sounds of the tricks, took the audio and cut it up but ended up making a vocal motif with the chatter between tricks and got inspired by the sound of it.

Many experimental electronic artists blur the lines between structure and improvisation. How much of Anubis was carefully composed versus discovered through experimentation?

Every song we make has some happy accidents through experimenting for us, and the structure is kind of revealed as we find those and move things around until it feels natural right.

Anubis blends danceable beats with an experimental edge. How do you strike that balance between club energy and sonic exploration?

Make it groovy first then make it as weird as possible within that groove.

Adding to our previous question, in which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?

We want our music to be enjoyed listening on headphones but we really enjoy playing live shows with the band and the energy of the tracks really seem to translate well that way too.

Artists and people that have influenced you?

Andy Skank (Northampton’s finest), Caribou, Radiohead, Bicep, Old Dance records, Aphex Twin, Bjork, Modeselektor, Kate Bush, Squid, Flying Lotus.

If the music of litesleeper was a film, which film would that be?

Anora 🙂 (according to our vocalist, Shannon)

What is the story behind your name?

We are always up late thinking about music as night owls and pretty quickly agreed the name suited us!

Thank you!
