Describe your sound in 3 words

Psychedelic Stoner Funk

What inspired the title “C:\Seduction” and how does it reflect the mood or theme of the track?

Actually, the song was purely instrumental for a long time. The word “connection” popped up in Aron’s (drummer) head, after a night of boozin’ and smoking. Then we added seduction to it and it just seemed to belong on the instrumentals and general vibe of the song.

How do you approach merging such diverse genres into a cohesive sound?

Some songs have been sitting on the shelf for 5 years, like this one. It was supposed to be more rock influenced. However, the song and ourselves aged and evolved during that time so we’ve put more recent funky influences in it. But we always enjoy merging styles and are full of ideas and not afraid to make a song out of it. We just produce what we like listening to ourselves.

The track can be described as both psychedelic and seductive. How do you translate those sensations into music?

We added trippy precussion and synths to it. It’s something we enjoy doing recently. Then we made the vocals sound seductive and deep sound wise. The wah wah guitar also adds to the flavour.

If the music of Spiny Norman was a film, which film would that be?

everything, everywhere, all at once

Artist and people that have influenced you?

It all started with the beatles, kinks, small faces and other 60s stuff. Later we got heavily influenced by bands such as Khruangbin, Glass Beams and also Pink Floyd.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t worry to much and imagine yourself in the future being very happy without the perfect job, wife and life.

Something not many people know about you?

We were close friends before we started as a band. Aron didn’t even play drums when he was named the drummer. Everything we do and learned is DIY.

Thank you!
