Describe your sound in 3 words

Crunchy, melodious, trumpetdrums

Tell us a few things about The Never Ending Nature of Desire. What is the main idea behind it?

The track was my attempting to make a track something along the lines of Fatima Yamaha’s “What’s A Girl To Do” which was originally released on Irish label D1 Records in 2004. It has a beautiful synth melody and chord sequence which carries through the track. As usual with me, my take came out a lot more complex! It sounds completely different… but it does have a kind of song-like quality to it with the AB structure.

Which is your go to synth (analog or digital) when you start a project?

FabFilter Twin is in most of my projects… bit of a secret weapon haha.

Aliens from a distant galaxy arrive on Earth and are curious about Aphex Twin. Which track would you choose to introduce them to his music?

haha. good to hear they are interested in the important stuff about Earth! Flim – it’s just a wonder.

Do you have an artist that you would describe as a hidden gem that we should know about?

Caleb Peinado. Not many know him, he SHOULD be up there with Vibert, Mu-Ziq and Aphex in my opinion! Check out his album “Music for eSports” (it’s on my label Zoitrax)

If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?

I would make all streaming companies switch from the pro-rate distribution model to an artist-centric model. So for example, if a user listens to 1 artist 90% of the time, then 90% of their subscription fee (or the portion that goes to royalties), goes to that artist.

If the music of ZOiD was a film, which film would that be?

hmmmm… Eraserhead haha. no, Bladerunner. pfff, I wish. ok i think i’ll go with my personal number one favourite film of all time, Cloud Atlas!

What’s next for you?

well i’m moving to Bristol pretty soon, got a few remixes coming out, and my album ZOiD Vs Musicians Vol 2 will be out on Zoitrax, on vinyl and digital, later this year, along with a remix package with remixes from some legends. LETS GO

Thank you!
