Tell us a few things about Superpopulation. What inspired the fusion of diverse musical elements from rocky guitars to a dnb infused groove?
I’m basically a rock musician, but I’ve always been attracted to a large number of musical styles, however heterogeneous they may be…so I try to incorporate elements of other styles that appeal to me into my music
In what ways does the composition of this piece reflect the fast-paced, dense, and sometimes oppressive nature of the world around us?
I tried to describe these aspects first by a fast tempo, a slightly corrosive synth sound in the D’n’B style, then a drum passage loaded with toms and which goes crescendo, and which really recalls how crowded we can sometimes feel. This part is also embellished with a dissonant guitar played in tapping, which creates a sort of unease or discomfort.
Are we on a slippery slope towards dystopia?
yes, I think we are caught in a movement that is difficult to stop and to which we all agree for ease
In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?
This is a question I would love to have the answer to myself!!but perhaps with a little anger and revolt in mind
Artists and people that have influenced you?
there are many, but depeche mode is undoubtedly the first to have forged my musical culture, for rock I then listened a lot to deep purple then metallica took me towards more radical music
Favorite album of the past year?
perhaps shaka ponk by SHAKA PONK, whch is a great french band of rock!!
What’s next for you?
I am preparing the release of a new single for the month of April or May, and I am planning the release of an EP which will bring together these titles and others for the beginning of the summer
