Tezra is showcasing Our Secret, the first release under the new moniker. Expect powerful synthesizers, a robust bass-driven audio landscape, and cinematic, dystopian undertones with a dark atmosphere. Read our discussion with the producer below!

Describe your sound in 3 words

Dark, energetic, and girthy

Our Secret is the first release under your new moniker Tezra. Tell us a few things about it and how it differs from previous projects.

I created the Tezra project as a method of separation between my personal self and my artistic self. Previous monikers of mine lacked purpose and identity so I’m approaching this with intentionality! I’m excited to start this journey and see where it goes.

Artists and people that have influenced you?

I look up to genre-fluid artists like Deathpact, X&G, Monty & Visages, etc to inspire me to think outside the norm of EDM. My goal is to make music that’s catchy and uniquely Tezra.

Tell us a dark techno drop you wish you had composed yourself.

I wouldn’t classify it as techno exactly but easily TEK by Monty & Visages.

Which is your go to synth (analog or digital) when you start a project?

Serum, but mainly because I’m so comfortable around it! I’ve been experimenting with different wavetable synths like Vital and Ableton’s operator and I like what they have to offer, but my quickest and highest quality sound design still comes from Serum.

If the music of Tezra was a film, which film would that be?

That’s a tough question! I think aesthetically, the music of Tezra would be Blade Runner 2049 but energetically more like Predator. I want you to feel like you’re on a hunt.

In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?

I’d imagine my music playing the best somewhere grungy but elegant with a high value in sound.

Which Superpower Would You Choose?

There are so many times I wish I could be in two places at once or have the ability to instantly warp anywhere, so if I had to choose a superpower I’d go with teleportation.

Thank you!
