Describe your sound in 3 words

Crash bang wallop!

Tell us a few things about Catch Me If You Can, Marianne!. What is the story behind it?

The song is about craving looooooove and looking for it everywhere.
Delivered via an Indiana Jones diary entry with a Les Baxter tropicana backing track.

How do your personal experiences influence your songwriting?

After something significant or something happens that feels significant I find myself thinking about my existence. This happens randomly sometimes and other times it’s from a very obvious source. Usually after reflecting on it further I can express it in a melody or one line of lyrics and I’ll sing it into my phone, write it into notes or try to get to the guitar or piano as quickly as possible.

How has your background as a songwriting member of Weird Milk influenced your solo work?

We held each other to a high standard so I had to be very self-critical. Our big ethos was ALL KILLER NO FILLER.

If the music of Charlie Vaughan was a film, which film would that be?

James Bond but if he was Austin Powers.

Artists and people that have influenced you?

Kenny, Aretha, Brian Wilson, Paul Hickey

A song you are convinced was written about you?

Okay My Love – The Sha La Das

What isn’t a crime but should be?

Taking shoes off on the train.

Thank you!
