Describe your sound in 3 words
Authentic, Inspired, Chaotic
Tell us a few things about y r u staring. What is the main idea behind it?
This song came from a jam session where Mario(lead guitarist) came up with the chord progression. Musically we are also inspired by jazz so we sought out to make a sort of jazzy indie rock tune but with some edge to it.
Lyrics wise it’s just about two friends just being too high. There is some sort of disconnect and sometimes the paranoia is real if you are not careful.
Tell us a guitar riff you wish you had composed yourselves.
The purple rain guitar solo.
Artists and people that have influenced you?
This can be a long list so we will keep it short: Thom Yorke, David Bowie, Julian Cassablancas, and Damon Albarn.
What do you love/hate about Miami?
Love: The amount and quality of local artists. It really feels like there is something brewing in this city and it is exciting to experience.
Hate: The lack of decent venues for bands to play shows at. Rest in peace Las Rosas. It was one of the best venues for a while down here and unfortunately it closed down.
Adding to our previous question, how do you relate to the music scene of Miami?
Our relation with the music scene is also a unique one. It feels like there is a lot of diversity in how music sounds here because there are so many different cultures to draw inspiration from.
The local scene really shows how diverse our backgrounds can be despite seeming like we are all one monolithic latin american culture.
Favorite music related film?
School of rock. Always identified with both the kids and Jack Black.
If you were arrested, what would it be for?
Freeing all the dolphins/whales in the Miami Seaquarium. It’s a shame the state of our only seaquarium especially considering one of the most biodiverse ecosystems is right in our front yard.
