Tell us a few things about Trust. What is the main idea behind it?

Trust is a track that delves into the power of emotions within an alternate reality I wanted to create. In this concept, emotions hold significant influence and are valued more than conventional forms of power like money or authority. With Trust, I aimed to capture the essence of trust as an emotion that holds immense strength. It serves as the foundation for a series of upcoming singles, each exploring and representing different emotions within this unique alternate reality.

Favorite synthwave infused album?

To be honest I am not a fan of “generic” synthwave sounds. So, I will go with Com Truise – Iteration.

Considering your music is heavily synth driven, which is your go to synth (analog or digital) when you start a new project?

When starting a new project, I have streamlined my sound design process by gradually reducing the number of synthesizers I use. Currently, my go-to synths are either the Elektron Analog Four or the Prophet 12. These instruments offer a rich and diverse range of sounds that perfectly align with my vision for the music I create.

If the music of Stars Like Dust was an 80’s film, which film would that be?

If I were to envision the music of Stars Like Dust as an 80’s film, the one that comes to mind is Akira. Akira has had a profound impact on my imagination and creative process. The dystopian atmosphere and mesmerizing visuals of Akira resonated deeply with me, and I strive to capture a similar sense of intensity and immersive storytelling in my music.

In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?

I imagine people listening to my music in moments of transcendence and escapism. Whether it’s stargazing at night, getting lost in the pages of their favorite science-fiction graphic novels, or simply finding solace in their own thoughts, my music aims to transport listeners to ethereal realms.

What do you love/hate about Istanbul and Seattle?

Although it has been some time since I left Istanbul, I have also lived in other cities such as Groningen and my hometown, Ankara. I believe that people carry their inner reality wherever they go, and I have fond memories of each place. Each city was distinct and offered unique experiences that sparked my imagination in different ways. While it may sound cliché, I genuinely cherish the positive aspects of all these cities and the impact they had on my artistic journey.

What is the story behind your name?

The story behind ‘Stars Like Dust’ draws inspiration from Isaac Asimov’s novel of the same name. I was captivated by the book’s themes of exploration, cosmic wonder, and the limitless possibilities found in science fiction. Our band name pays homage to Asimov’s visionary storytelling while reflecting the ethereal and mysterious nature of our music. It symbolizes our journey into uncharted sonic realms, where imagination and creativity know no limits.
