Describe your sound in 3 words
Melancholic dance music
Tell us a few things about Omni Too. What is the story behind it?
The initial concept was to create a minimal instrumental track with fewer layers, allowing more breathing room, so to speak. I began experimenting with a few chord progressions and somehow decided to incorporate some vocal parts from my previous tracks just to see if I could turn it into a song. Totally the opposite to my initial idea but the result sounded really good. I decided to lock the concept and develop it further as a song.
The vocal melody was partly ‘borrowed’ from my old track ‘Omni’ (https://youtu.be/mGXwllQgbYA ) that was released on the British house music label “Lost My Dog” (https://ra.co/labels/1758 ) in 2015 hence ‘Omni Too’. I rewrote the lyrics, re-recorded the vocals with one of my singers in Nashville, added a few melodic elements/fx and the track was done. I really love this one, I put a lot of heart into it.
Artists and people that have influenced you?
There are so many really, but mainly it’s the UK electronic/house music scene of the late 80s and the 90s – Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Depeche Mode just to name a few. Definitely Classical music – Bach, Satie, Tchaikovsky, it’s what I grew up with. To fast forward, lately I got into synthwave music. Some incredible concepts and sounds, very original – Forhill, Hotel Pools, Demin are truly talented musicians, and the list goes on.
Your sound has nostalgia elements. If a time machine could take you anywhere (past/future) for a day, when/where would you go?
I’d say I would go 100 years into the future. Will we still be humans or will we have merged completely with AI? Will we remain organic or become fully bionic? What kind of music will be trending then? Will music continue to exist as we know it today?
In which place or state of mind do you imagine people might listen to your music?
Being by yourself and observing others, somewhat a solitude theme: lounge filled with dimmed lights with only a few people scattered around, a couple dancing to Omni Too holding each others hands while you are chilling on your own somewhere in the corner, sipping a drink.
If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?
More soul, less “conveyor”.
If Omni Too was a film, which film would that be?
Hard to pick, but the closest would probably be Le Notti Bianche by Luchino Visconti.
In real life, is there something that you would actually like to erase from your memory?
Every cringe situation I was part of.
Thank you!
